The Doodler Update: Week 23
We have reached Week 23 and make no mistake there has been a lot going on in camp Polydoodle. With the completion of our 3D props and environments Sammy has been working on getting the set moving to reflect a day and night cycle. She created a number of versions but with some recommendations from Alan she reached her final version (see video above). This sequence plays a key role in our animated short.
Stitch has been rigging but prior to setting in to a specific method time scale had to be considered. Ethan Shilling gave a lot of advice on stretchy limbs otherwise known as “the rubber hose method”. However, it was felt that there would not be enough time to invest in this method or the preferable IK/FK method. Instead Stitch adopted a basic rig with D-day approaching. Rendering time is the main factor.
Above you can see some image highlights from our blog for this week (week 23). If you wish to see the posts themselves please visit the Polydoodle Pictures studio blog.
Sammy has also been planning the traits of the “characters” in motion (above left) & finalizing the animatic to correspond to our final animation (above right). She used our animatic to draw up Exposure sheets to be shared between the 3 of us. The exposure sheets (the presentation above) and the animatic allow us to accurately set the pace of the animation with exact frame counts down to the second.
