Exclusive Leap – Cogman Animation Reference

Animation Reference is always a fun thing to shoot especially because you never know what you will catch on camera. Most of it looks kind of silly but when you slow it down you suddenly understand how the animation curves would go. Animation curves are the projected flow of a moving object a good example of this could be me throwing a football, you would observe the arch of my arm as it moves the ball upwards.

The image above shows a single frame from one of the reference videos. The red lines symbolise the movement you would have to consider when drawing this out frame by frame. The arm would have to follow the curve and be drawn accordingly. The upper body twists while the lower lays stationary. The leg extends up from the heel to accommodate the outstretched arm.
